Great Neck Site - 44VB7 - Reptiles and Amphibians

The Great Neck Site, 44VB7, is one in a series of sites on Lynnhaven Inlet, Virginia Beach. Originally partially excavated nearly 30 years ago, recent excavations in 2015 and 2016 led by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources yielded a cluster of Middle Woodland features, including a shell midden and several basin shaped features rich with ceramics, shell, and bone.

This photo gallery costains a selection of bird bones identified from this assemblage. More photos and cultural context will be added as analysis continues.
